Death of our Partner, Leah Duckett
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the death of our partner, Leah Duckett. Leah passed away on May 31, 2018 surrounded by her family after a courageous fight against leukemia. Leah had been an attorney with our office for the past 15 years.
She worked tirelessly to protect and defend the rights of immigrants throughout her career. Her impact on the immigration community is immeasurable. We know that Leah’s legacy will carry on in the work that we do and each immigrant we are able to help. Leah’s spirit, passion, and dedication is alive in each of us at Ahlgren and Associates.
There will be a visitation offered at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Friday, June 8 from 5-8 pm and funeral services at St. Josaphat Catholic Church on Saturday, June 9 at Noon. St. Josaphat is located at 2311 N. Southport, Chicago, Illinois.
In remembrance of Leah, and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an endowed Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (“DACA”) scholarship through Loyola University Chicago School of Law (Leah’s alma mater) that has been formed in her honor by doing the following: Visiting www.luc.edu/law/give and choosing ‘other’ for allocation and in the memo line writing “in memory of Leah Duckett Gray for DACA.” We together through Leah will send some well-deserving DACA students to law school in her honor that otherwise would not be able to afford it—a lasting legacy in Leah’s honor that will continue to make a difference in the immigrant community that Leah worked so tirelessly to fight for throughout her career.
