While in law school, Andres was a member of Akron Law’s nationally renowned mock trial team and moot court program. He worked for the Akron Legal Clinic’s Inmate Assistance Program and externed with the Federal Defender’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, where he successfully assisted a client serving life in getting executive clemency from former President Obama. He also won the first ever asylum case for Akron Law’s Immigration and Human Rights Clinic as a student, representing a detained asylum seeker who was granted asylum by the Cleveland Immigration Court. While in law school, Andres also served as president of the Asian and Latino Law Student Association (ALLSA) and student chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).
