Immigrant Visa Process
Submit a Petition
The relative sponsoring you files an I-130 petition on your behalf
NVC Processing
Once your petition is approved, a case will be opened with the National Visa Center
Pay Fees
After your case is opened, required fees must be paid before your case can advance
File Provisional Waiver
File a provisional unlawful presence waiver, if necessary
Online Application
Once fees processed, submit an Application for Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration
Affidavit of Support
The petitioner will accept financial support for you during your time in U.S. and submit evidence of finances to USCIS
Civil Documents
Passports, birth certificates, and military records used to support your visa application
Submit Documents
Once documents are submitted, your case is placed in line for review at the NVC
Interview Preparation
Schedule medical exam and gather originals of civil documents
Applicant Interview
Meet with a consular officer to determine visa eligibility
After the Interview
Application will be approved, denied, or held for administrative processing
